Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is KLSCDS?

KLSCDS (KLS Custom Designs) is a small print shop based in Medina, Ohio. We specialize in DTF prints, UV DTF wraps, vinyl decals, keychains, and clip sheets — all printed in-house on commercial-grade equipment.

Do you print everything in-house?

Yes! Every order is printed right here in our shop on professional, commercial-grade printers. No outsourcing — just consistent, high-quality results every time.

DTF Printing Basics

What is DTF printing?

DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a method where your design is printed onto a special film and then transferred to fabric using a heat press. DTF transfers work on cotton, polyester, blends, and more — making them incredibly versatile.

What surfaces can DTF transfers be applied to?

DTF transfers can be applied to most fabric types including cotton, polyester, tri-blends, nylon, and leather. They work great on t-shirts, hoodies, hats, bags, and more.

What is UV DTF?

UV DTF wraps are printed with UV-cured ink and are designed for hard, non-porous surfaces like tumblers, cups, water bottles, phone cases, and more. They apply without a heat press — just peel and stick!

Turnaround & Shipping

How long does it take to process my order?

We offer a fast 1–3 business day turnaround on in-stock, ready-to-ship items. Custom or large orders may take slightly longer — we'll always communicate with you if that's the case.

When does the turnaround time start?

Turnaround time begins once your order is placed and payment is confirmed. For custom orders requiring a file, it begins once we receive and approve your artwork.

Do you offer rush orders?

Please reach out to us before placing your order if you need something urgently — we'll do our best to accommodate you!

File Requirements

What file format should I submit?

We recommend submitting files in PNG format with a transparent background for the best results. We also accept PDF, SVG, and high-resolution JPG files.

What resolution do you require?

Files should be at least 300 DPI at the intended print size. Low-resolution files may result in blurry or pixelated prints — we'll let you know if your file doesn't meet our standards before printing.

Can you help fix or resize my design?

Minor adjustments may be possible — contact us before ordering and we'll let you know what we can do. For major design work, we recommend working with a graphic designer.

Pressing Instructions

How do I apply a DTF transfer?

  1. Pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  2. Place the DTF transfer ink-side down on your garment.
  3. Press at 305°F (152°C) for 15 seconds with medium-to-firm pressure.
  4. Peel the film while warm (warm peel) or allow to cool completely (cold peel) — check your specific transfer for instructions.
  5. Place a t-seal or parchment sheet over the transfer and press again for 5–10 seconds to finish and set the transfer.

Note: Press settings may vary slightly depending on your heat press. Always do a test press first!

How do I apply a UV DTF wrap?

  1. Clean your surface thoroughly — it must be free of dust, oils, and moisture.
  2. Peel the backing from the UV DTF wrap.
  3. Carefully align and apply the wrap to your surface, smoothing out any bubbles as you go.
  4. Press firmly across the entire design to ensure full adhesion.
  5. Peel the top transfer tape slowly at a low angle.

UV DTF wraps do not require a heat press!

How do I care for garments with DTF transfers?

Turn garments inside out before washing. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and avoid bleach. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. Avoid ironing directly on the transfer.
